Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Clinical Research

We are offering an exciting and unique opportunity for two clinician-researchers to join the school to develop the clinical research potential of our partner network. One post will be focussed on companion animals, the other on production animals. Working with clinical, academic and industrial partners you will initiate and deliver clinical research projects that inform the future of veterinary care.

The University of Surrey School of Veterinary Medicine has an extensive partner network of more than 90 veterinary practices and industrial partners from the animal healthcare sector. We deliver outstanding veterinary education and research, with evidence based veterinary medicine at its core.

As Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Clinical Research (Companion Animal or Production Animal) you will work with our partner network to develop and deliver research projects of relevance to animal health and the veterinary healthcare sector. You will work with academic colleagues to bid for external funding, you will work to develop and lead small research teams with diverse skills, and you will share best-practice in clinical research with colleagues and students. Using your clinical expertise and enthusiasm for research, you will contribute to our highly-rated undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the area of evidence based veterinary medicine.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline for the post or hold a post-graduate specialist clinical qualification (e.g. RCVS or European Diploma). The post holder will join the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and our supportive, multidisciplinary team, dedicated to equipping the next generation of veterinarians for the challenges of the 21st Century. Curiosity, charisma, influencing skills and a willingness to work flexibly are essential, alongside excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
