The Center for Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications from individuals to be appointed as a Research Associate. The position will be based at NYU Abu Dhabi and will be supervised by Dr. Claude Desplan.
Projects in the Desplan lab focus on two major areas of neural development: The generation of neuronal diversity in the optic lobes of Drosophila and its evolution in other species. Planned projects use a variety of cutting-edge techniques in the field of developmental neurobiology, including but not limited to the use of confocal microscopy, immunofluorescence staining of proteins of interest, live imaging, transgenesis, single-cell mRNA sequencing, bioinformatics, and molecular biology.
The Research Associate will be responsible for working with other scientists and lab technicians on the Drosophila development, using the various development neurobiology techniques used in the lab. The candidate is also expected to contribute and publish research papers.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in neuronal science or a related discipline with more than 5 years’ experience. Applicants with a strong background in Drosophila and a clear demonstration of leading projects to completion via high-quality publications will be an asset for consideration.
