About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Breadth team within VCA Art. VCA Art has a significant national reputation and has long established a dynamic presence as forward-looking with a clear mission to prepare artists with a lifelong commitment as professional practitioners who will be positive contributors to the profession and the broader community.

This position will entail participation in the Undergraduate teaching program and contribution to the institution’s research culture through supervision and the appointee’s own research initiatives and exhibitions.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Be responsible for ongoing development and maintenance of professionally relevant, high quality curricula, course and subject material
  • Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars and consult with students
  • Undertake a range of administrative functions, the majority of which relate to the subjects in which you teach
  • Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and/or studio seminars.

Based in the beautiful Southbank Campus of The University of Melbourne, you will work nestled amongst Melbourne’s major arts and cultural organisations and venues. You will have the convenience of great transport links to the rest of the city with the serenity of the Botanical Gardens close by.

About You

You will be an active and well-respected artist with the ability to work within a team to shape and build the teaching, learning and research within VCA Art. You will demonstrate a critically engaged arts practice, have teaching experience in an Art School context, demonstrated capacity to contribution to the administration and coordination of the program and string communication and interpersonal skills.

Ideally, you will further have:

  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent in the field of contemporary visual art practice and its theoretical context
  • Strong coordination and organisation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a small team
