Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes

Location: Dubai (UAE)

Salary: 15,000 AED – 25,000 AED per month.

The Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities has an excellent reputation as a leading Higher Education provider of creative disciplines and for academic English teaching. These programmes are taught by internationally acclaimed and award-winning academics in the UK – and we are now seeking to extend our reputation through our appointments and campus in Dubai.

The IYZ programme offers an exciting curriculum which prepares students for HE-level learning and enables progression to the first year of their chosen degrees. The programme is underpinned by English for Academic Purposes (EAP) teaching to support the acquisition of language skills and discipline-specific knowledge. The EAP curriculum is uniquely informed by the UN Sustainability Goals (SDGs).

With a common structure and approach, these preparatory programmes offer innovative teaching and learning, with routes into clusters of degrees across a range of subjects. including the fields of; business, law, social science, science, engineering, computing, interior design, fashion communications and styling – and architecture.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint experienced EAP Lecturers, Senior Lecturers and adjunct staff to support and lead the development and delivery of EAP teaching in the IYZ and to provide campus English language support for UG and PGT students. You will be joining an enthusiastic team in establishing EAP and the IYZ programme as a regional centre for English Language excellence. You will help to build professional networks, and play an active role in creating a campus community for students.

The Person

You will be educated to Masters degree level (or higher), and have experience of teaching and assessment in Higher Education. You will also have experience of preparing lessons in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), covering all the language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening, through a firmly academic context

You will have an ELT qualification (DELTA certificate or equivalent / equivalent experience) and a Masters in an English-related discipline (e.g. ELT, Applied Linguistics).

You must be passionate about teaching the next generation of DMU graduates.
