About the role:

The Research Fellow will be responsible for the day-to-day management of projects centred in 2D material optoelectronics, including photodetectors and light sources. This will include assisting with the supervision of Graduate Students and Research Assistants. The position will involve a large component of laboratory-based experimental work. The output of this work will be publications in high-impact journals and top conferences.

The position will be within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) and the Research Fellow will be expected to be an active member of the Department, collaborating with other researchers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Chief Investigators, develop the research plan based on the goals of the research programme and assist in supervising projects lead by graduate students and research assistants.
  • Contribute to curriculum design, teaching, training, scientific mentoring and supervision of students as required.
  • Identify sources of funding to support individual or collaborative projects, relating to teaching, research and engagement practice in the discipline

About You:

You are a motivated and passionate emerging academic with a record of high-quality research, evidenced by prominent authorship positions in high-impact publications. Your excellent written and verbal communication skills enable you to produce high-quality scholarly outputs including presentations, seminars and grant submissions. You are able to work effectively both independently and as part of a broader team, and your outstanding interpersonal skills enable you to effectively supervise graduate students and/or research assistants.

Ideally you will be experienced in photovoltaics, photodetection, or other optoelectronic device fabrication.

You will further have:

  • A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or a closely related discipline
  • Skills and experience in hands-on fabrication, simulation and characterisation of nanoelectronic devices
