Reporting to:
Senior IDS Architectural Lead
Information and Digital Services (IDS)

Under broad direction, the role is responsible for contributing to developing and maintaining the holistic solution (current and target) reference architecture and roadmap for IDS (and supporting artefacts).

The role is also responsible for providing technical and operational design, planning, development, configuration, maintenance and support of integration services in accordance with IDS integration architecture principles, guardrails and design standards.

The role is also responsible for supporting and aligning with the relevant IDS capability hub where all relevant IDS integration resources have either a full or dotted reporting line into.

Key Position Responsibilities

Technical Management & Support

  • Leading the design, development and management of the University's integration architecture and strategy, and the establishment, development and maturing of a capability hub for IDS.  
  • Providing leadership, guidance, reporting and support to governance forums, projects, product owners, solution architects, technology vendors and designers to ensure that integration architectures and designs are aligned with the IDS integration architecture principles, guardrails and design standards. 
  • Providing governance and assurance services for solution designs and technology options to ensure alignment with integration architecture frameworks, principles, guardrails and design standards. 
  • Working as required, directly or indirectly with project teams to support the delivery of project outcomes.

Technical Vision & Roadmap

  • In collaboration with the relevant stakeholders, developing, implementing and managing the vision and associated roadmap for IDS integration architecture, ensuring the vision and roadmap is aligned to the strategic objectives and relevant governance principles of IDS and Flinders. 
  • Maintaining the relevant supporting artefacts and leading the periodical review of the IDS integration architecture vision and roadmap to ensure it is kept up to date and well understood by relevant stakeholders. 
  • Developing business cases for new or enhanced technologies and solutions to support the delivery of the roadmap.

Technical Knowledge & Excellence

  • Conducting both formal and informal market scanning and benchmarking activities to be aware of emerging market offerings and trends. 
  • Periodically participating in knowledge building activities and events to be aware of latest/best practices related to the role and to keep skills and knowledge up to date. 
  • Managing the provision of timely and effective advice and support to customers and stakeholders by identifying improvements to support services and providing technical expertise to enable customers to adopt new technologies and processes.

Risk, Governance & Ways of Working

  • Managing day-to-day vendor interactions and relationships using sound commercial judgement in accordance with University procurement policies. 
  • Establishing and maintaining an agile based way of working to manage, refine, and prioritise the activity backlog based on relevant customer and IDS priorities.  Balancing the need to support day to day operations in a stable and reliable manner, with the need to build and mature capability. 
  • Identifying, managing and mitigating risks related to the activities being undertaken by the role in line with IDS and Flinders University policies and procedures. 
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant IDS and Flinders University policies and procedures.

Other Responsibilities

  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the role as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.

Key Position Capabilities

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Information Technology or relevant technical area, and / or equivalent relevant experience in an IT environment.  
  • High level strategic thinking, planning and analytical skills and actively contributes to achieve outcomes and meet the University's strategic goals. 
  • High level skills in leading a team to its full potential, including high level interpersonal and relationship management skills and the ability to manage staff performance. 
  • Broad experience in building and managing customer relationships in a strategic and long-term context. 
  • Broad experience in agile ways of working including exposure to scaled agile methodologies and/or collaborating and delivering through a matrix structure. 
  • High level self-improvement and growth mindset/approach to the role and fosters it amongst the wider team. 
  • High level interpersonal influence and demonstrated ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with staff and customers across a diverse organisation particularly during the design, management and implementation of customer solutions. 
  • High level experience in integration architecture design and strategy in a large and complex organisation.  
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in defining and maintaining integration principles, patterns and standards, and providing integration services for digital solutions. 
  • Higher education experience advantageous.
