At TU Dresden the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) offers a position as System Administrator (m/f/x)

(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 10 TV-L)

The CMCB is a central academic unit of the TU Dresden and is composed of the institutes BIOTEC (Biotechnological Center), B CUBE (Center for Molecular Bioengineering) and CRTD (Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden). The aim of the CMCB is to create synergies between these institutes in order to further strengthen the internationally oriented cutting-edge research and innovative teaching programme. The CMCB research groups are supported by central service units, which also act as an intersection to the central administration of the TU Dresden. The IT environment of the CMCB is set up and operated jointly with the IT of the Cluster of Excellence “Physics of Life” (PoL).

Tasks: In this position, you would be involved in the design, development and realization of the setup as well as further development and operation of the modern IT infrastructure with a focus on the integration into the central IT environment of the TU Dresden. You will update and ensure the continuation of the documentation of all systems and provide IT-specific support as well as coordination of the IT-specific development of the individual work groups and facilities as well as independent user support in case of technical problems. Independent technical consulting and support of the work groups and facilities in case of investments in the area of hardware and software; planning, management and implementation of related projects; close operation with the system administrators in the IT team of the CMCB and the ZIH of the TU Dresden are also part of your tasks.

Requirements: degree from a higher education institution in an IT-related subject or comparable knowledge and skills, combined with several years of professional experience in a similar environment. Good to very good knowledge in the following areas: Administration of Linux servers and clients (distributions: Ubuntu, Debian, RedHat); Implementation, operation and management of server services (web server, database server, Linux HP cluster); Software installation (operating systems and applications) and scripting for automated software distribution; Programming experience in Perl, Shell-Script, PHP; Experience with CMS editing systems such as TYPO3, WordPress and RDBMS systems (MySQL/MariaDB). You are assertive and a good communicator, have organizational skills and a strong ability to work in a team. You are enthusiastic about new tasks, seek challenges and are willing to familiarize yourself with new assignments and projects quickly. You think analytically and are open to new ideas. A confident manner, a goal-oriented and systematic approach to work and the ability to convince in personal conversations are part of your personality. Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
