Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF) in Migration and Cross-Cultural Family Studies in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref: 512531), to commence as soon as possible for one to three years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. 

The Principal Investigator (PI) and research team are conducting local and international studies on improving migration outcomes across the family life course in collaboration with interdisciplinary, international academics and local/international NGO partners in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. The primary responsibility for the PDF will be on Research Impact Fund (R7028-21) with other duties as needed. The PDF will assist the PI in the research implementation with support from two Research Assistants and/or Research Postgraduate Students. 

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in communication and media studies/social policy/geography/social work or other relevant disciplines. We are seeking a PDF with the following skills: experience in conducting mixed-method research across the project lifecycle from inception to data collection to analysis and dissemination; experience in research collaboration with community-based organizations. Those with advanced knowledge in qualitative or mixed-method data analysis are preferred. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesian. Chinese language proficiency is preferred. They should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; and ability to work independently and as a team. The successful candidate should be willing to travel for field oversight within Southeast Asia.

The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator to implement the primary and various related research studies; facilitate fieldwork in Indonesia and the Philippines, oversee data collection and management; write scientific publications, reports, and public dissemination briefs; supervise early career research staff; oversee the community stakeholder engagement, and perform any other duties as assigned. He/She will have ample opportunities to work with research professionals and a well-established international interdisciplinary research team. He/She will also gain valuable postdoctoral training in implementing large multi-country multistakeholder projects.
