The starting salary will be from £51,799 to £65,107, depending on qualifications and experience (pro rata for part-time appointments).

Summary of the role

As an Associate Professor you will engage with and support research and application activities. Our growing portfolio of studies is leading to expansion within the unit. The post holder will be an experienced statistician with a strong and current record of research funding, national/international quality publications with the potential to attract funding and world-class academics to the SCTU.

The post holder will support a dynamic team in developing and delivering research providing scientific leadership. The post holder will collaborate with our staff to develop and deliver our research strategy, build research capabilities and support staff in developing their careers. The post holder will have a key role in developing the research culture, and national/international reputation of the SCTU.

The employing organisation is the University of Southampton which offers a competitive salary, pension scheme and other benefits.  The post is offered on a two year fixed term contract in the first instance with the expectation of extension. The post is full time post but part time may be considered. The SCTU is part of a strong research environment in Southampton which includes the  Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility and strong NHS R&D Management.

The role will allow for a hybrid model of working from both home and in the office.
