Job Description

The Ho lab within the Programme in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders, Duke-NUS, is interested in discovering and functionalising novel small endogenous peptides in metabolism and cardiovascular biology. We are seeking a Research Assistant / Research Associate who is passionate about investigating, documenting and reporting the metabolic and vascular phenotypes of mouse models.

The selected candidate will assist in delineating novel mechanisms contributing to cardiovascular function of the genes of interest. Candidate will report directly to senior member in the team and contribute mainly to project work with a minor focus on laboratory management. 

This role will provide a unique opportunity for the individual to learn and experience animal phenotyping in the context of vascular biology and metabolism. The selected candidate will be expected to perform duties that support the research activities, including but not limited to the following:

  • Management of mouse colony 
  • Handling and phenotyping of mice 
  • Upkeep of regulatory paperwork pertaining to the project (IACUC, IRBs, etc)
  • Basic laboratory work, including PCR genotyping and histology
  • Operation of the PhenoMaster System – a newly acquired metabolic phenotyping platform for mice

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Life Sciences or related discipline with at least 2 years of work experience in a research environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting various research activities.
  • Candidate with experience in animal phenotyping preferred.
  • A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
  • RCULA certification will be an advantage.
