Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow position in the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
Purpose of the post
We are looking for a biostatistician with 3 years of contract to analyze high-dimensional molecular assay data for clinical biomarker discovery in cardiovascular diseases. The staff will be involved in biomarker studies across a multitude of local and cross-country cohorts of patients under care for heart failure, coronary artery disease, and acute coronary syndromes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The main duties are:
- Drive the statistical analysis plan for high-dimensional, quantitative molecular data sets and prioritize diagnostic and prognostic markers (proteins, metabolites, and non-coding RNAs in blood circulation) for specified clinical endpoints or endophenotypes
- Integrate blood biomarkers with other cardiac imaging modalities to make inference of the connections between circulating markers and cardiac function phenotypes
- Direct collaboration with clinicians and presentation of data analysis outcomes
We expect an ideal candidate to:
- Be fluent in advanced statistical and machine learning methods, especially optimization and Bayesian statistics
- Have solid background in molecular biology and statistics, especially in high-dimensional data analysis
- Be proficient in low-level computer languages and linux/unix servers
- Have excellent communication skills and demonstrate records of good scientific writing
Qualifications
The applicant should:
- Have a Ph.D. degree in biostatistics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or any related disciplines
- Be able to work independently and have excellent organization skills to deal with a number of collaborations and data analysis support; and
- Excellent communication skills and proven record in scientific writing
