Principal Director

The George Institute for Global Health has now started an international search for its next Principal Director to succeed the Institute’s founding Directors, Professor Robyn Norton and Professor Stephen MacMahon, who will step down at the end 2022.

The George Institute is one of the world’s foremost research institutes, having built its exceptional profile through a commitment to tackle global health challenges that cause the greatest loss of life, the greatest impairment of life quality and the most substantial economic burden, particularly in resource-poor settings. Working with communities, clinicians, hospitals, healthcare providers, private sector organisations and governments, the work of The George Institute focuses on excellent research helping to develop low-cost, innovative solutions that can be integrated in health systems globally. The George Institute is home to over 1,100 staff located in Australia, India, China and the UK. It has a commercial arm helping to maximise impact – George Health – and partners with UNSW Sydney, Imperial College London and Manipal Academy of Higher Education.

This is an outstanding opportunity to lead The George Institutein its next chapter, to enhance its quest for excellence and global health impact. The next Principal Director will be a determined and inspirational leader of high intellectual standing who can demonstrate his or her ability to lead an institution to new levels of achievement and who is committed to the missionand values of the Institute. The successful candidate will have a global perspective, demonstrated ability to drive world class research aligned with the mission of The George Institute, provide strategic institutional leadership, guide the translation of research into practice, and to act as a compelling advocate for the Institute.
