The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is seeking outstanding candidates to fill a substantiation-track faculty position in Mechanics and Materials Science.

The position is open to all areas of solid mechanics and advanced materials, including but not limited to micro/nanomechanics, energy materials and soft matter, metamaterials, multiscale computations for structure materials and data-driven modeling and design. Applicants should have a PhD in mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, or related engineering fields, and are expected to have recognized pertinent academic, research and/or industrial experience. Those familiar with combined experimental and computational/theoretical approaches in multidisciplinary fields are encouraged to apply.

The appointment will be based in the Department of MAE which possesses world-leading expertise in aeroacoustics, mechanics, materials, manufacturing, and energy areas. Successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally-funded research program as well as contribute fully to both undergraduate and graduate teaching across the Department. The appointee will also have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the University with access to world class facilities.

Appointment at all ranks (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor) will be considered. Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including medical and dental benefits, annual leave and housing will be provided where applicable. Appointment for Professor will be on substantive basis. Appointment for Assistant/Associate Professor will normally be on a three-year contract. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
