Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences (PHLS) of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 512319), to commence as soon as possible on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess (i) a Ph.D. degree in a discipline related to virology, microbiology or other biological/medical sciences; (ii) relevant post-doctoral training; (iii) demonstrated expertise in the study of emerging respiratory viruses; (iv) research expertise and experience in virology and animal models; (v) a strong track record of publishing high-quality research articles.
The appointee is expected to work independently as well as with other team members; manage on-going research projects on emerging infectious diseases; publish original research articles in high-impact journals; and secure external competitive grants.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
