The School of Human Sciences, University of Greenwich, is seeking a research fellow to work on an 18-month Road Safety Trust funded project to investigate the use of Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA), an in-vehicle safety technology that helps drivers to remain within the speed limit and therefore drive more safely. The role is on a fixed term contract basis from 1 July 2022 (or as soon as possible thereafter) to 31 June 2023.

The post holder duties will include running quantitative studies to identify the key beliefs underlying intentions to use ISA and to evaluate an intervention designed to increase ISA use. The role will also involve coordination of a collaborative project team with the University of Sheffield as well as external partners (Parliamentary Advisory Committee on Transport Safety, Transport Research Laboratory). A degree in Psychology or a cognate area, quantitative research methods and statistics skills, project management experience, and the ability to work effectively within a research team are essential.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Project management on a day-to-day basis
  • Contributing to the design, conduct, and analysis for two quantitative studies, one modelling drivers’ intentions to use ISA, and one evaluating an intervention to increase ISA use.
  • Supporting the development of a theory-based behaviour change intervention
  • Contribute to dissemination of the research by writing up the research findings for both academic (e.g., for publication in scientific journals) and non-academic (e.g., reports for the stakeholders, beneficiaries and/or funders) audiences.
  • Coordinating the research team across multiple institutions

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • A track record of conducting quantitative research for publication.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Relevant statistical analysis skills for the studies.
