The University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) is seeking an innovative Library Services leader to join the University’s leadership team.  This is an exciting opportunity for a new Director to develop and implement USC’s new Library Services Development Plan.

University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) is a young university with the ambition to become Australia’s premier regional university. It is not limited by tradition or old ways of thinking. It is one of Australia’s fastest growing universities and is highly rated by students with a strong record of graduates gaining employment within a few months of completing their programs. The arrival of a new Vice-Chancellor and President in 2020 has led to the development of a new vision for USC. USC has more than 18,000 enrolled students and offers hands-on learning and flexible study options across more than 120 higher education programs. Programs of study carefully match the needs of its regional communities, while preparing its graduates for work close to home or away.

The Director, Library Services is a senior member of the University who works collaboratively within and outside the University to contribute to the attainment of strategic objectives and provide strategic advice in the areas of scholarly information issues. This director has responsibility for implementing the strategic direction of the University’s scholarly information resources and services, responding to new technology and development in Information and Communications Technology, the acquisition, curation and dissemination of knowledge and the operational delivery of scholarly resources, services and spaces to the university community and external partners.

USC has commenced its next pivotal phase of development. At this critical point, USC is seeking a well-developed leader to realise the University’s potential for delivering contemporary library services. High quality candidates will have relevant experience in a senior library management role within a large organisation with a successful track record in developing a staff profile of excellence. They will have demonstrable experience of meeting client needs, especially in the areas of digital information and innovative learning spaces.  Eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association is essential.
