Applications are invited for a temporary Laboratory Attendant role within the UCD National Virus Reference Laboratory. Following interviews, a panel will be formed from which future opportunities may be offered. This is a temporary post.

The National Virus Reference Laboratory (NVRL) plays an important role in the Irish Health Services as the principal diagnostic and reference service for clinicians investigating virus infections. The laboratory offers approximately 120 tests for the diagnosis of at least 45 different pathogens and the current workload involves performing in excess of 900,000 tests per annum. The laboratory provides a 24/7 clinical and technical on call service to deal with urgent testing requirements and to support the National Transplant Programme.

 

The main purpose of the post is to assist with the registration and preparation of specimens for analysis to monitor consumable usage, and maintain and clean equipment in the laboratory area.

Salary Range: € 28,868 - € 33,466

Appointment will be made on the minimum of the scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
