Research Associate / Postdoc “Sleep control of aging” (m/f/x)

(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible. The position is limited for 3 years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG).

Tasks: Sleep is essential, yet its regulation and molecular functions are not known. You will join an international team of enthusiastic scientists who are working towards a molecular understanding of sleep regulation and functions. We are using both mouse models as well as the nematode C. elegans as a model system, which facilitates the analysis of aging processes. The successful candidate will study how sleep controls aging by using C. elegans and an array of methods including functional imaging, optogenetics, molecular genetics and cell biological approaches.

Requirements: Excellent university degree (Msc or equivalent) in biology, or a related life science discipline with profound knowledge of molecular biology and physiology and an excellent PhD degree with experience in molecular biology, physiology, or neuroscience. Prior knowledge of C. elegans is an advantage, but not required. Very good interpersonal and communication skills; in particular, the ability to effectively work in collaborative research efforts. Fluency in English - written and oral.

The BIOTEC/CMCB is a renowned interdisciplinary and international research institute of the TU Dresden that boasts a collaborative spirit and cutting-edge technology platforms including state-of-the-art animal facilities.
