This role has the opportunity to move UoS towards a more data-driven culture. Taking inputs from current in- flight projects (e.g. Info Management, Cyber, CRM) with the ultimate aim: Data to be understood and trusted in order to build informative, actionable insights and decision making, improve institutional efficiency, drive clearer differentiation and competitive advantage.
This role will report directly to the head of Infrastructure one of the senior leadership team.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate resourcefulness, initiative and understand the value of delivering reliable and stable services with clear and concise documentation. You will be working as part of a team of highly motivated individuals who are committed to achieving deadlines and customer satisfaction.
What you'll do
Define the data strategy: The tools processes, and rules that define how to manage, analyse, and act upon business data.
- Provide Data Architecture and Data Strategy to deliver value for UoS based on:
- People skills and data culture
- Speed of access to data
- Process to ensure security and repeatable patterns
- Data Quality - Trusted and understood data
Align with iSolutions and cross UoS teams/programmes and end users in the delivery of a Data Architecture and Data Strategy which supports the delivery of the University Mission. Provide the ability to ensure the Triple Helix: Education, Research, Enterprise and Transnational vision and strategic objectives are enabled through an integrated data strategy.
What you’ll bring
A high Experience delivering and working with some of the following:
- Data analysis and synthesis. You can undertake data profiling and source system analysis.
- The ability to present your ideas and your specialist area to a wide and potentially non-technical audience.
- Data governance. You understand why data governance is required. You can take responsibility for the assurance of data solutions and make recommendations to ensure compliance.
- Data innovation. You are aware of opportunities for innovation with new tools and uses of data.
- Data modelling. You can explain the concepts and principles of data modelling and can produce, maintain and update relevant data models for specific business needs. You can reverse-engineer data models from a live system.
- Data standards. You know how to develop data standards for a specific component. You can analyse where data standards have been applied or breached and undertake an impact analysis of that breach. (Relevant skill level: working)
