This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Southampton as we streamline our legal services provision. The University’s legal services department offer a wide range of legal advice and support to the University’s Vice Chancellor’s Office, Professional Services, Schools, Faculties, Departments, and subsidiary companies.

About the Role 

The Change Portfolio Office has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to work closely with the Director of Legal Services to deliver projects that will streamline the delivery of legal services to the University.

You will define and deliver a range of specific change initiatives to move the Legal Services team forward in the journey to a more efficient and effective service offering, in line with the objectives of the University strategy. 

 What you’ll do

  • Be able to understand and express the needs of legal colleagues and the functions that Legal Services provide. 
  • Actively contribute to improved ways of working, setting out new processes and identifying opportunities for continued improvement in the delivery and use of our legal service. 
  • Build, manage and motivate project teams in a matrix management environment. 

 What you’ll bring 

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to plan and manage your own workload. 
  • Exposure to legal or governance operations is highly desirable. 
  • A PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent agile or traditional project management qualification. 

You will be a proactive problem solver who can manage multiple priorities to ensure that work is delivered on time to a high standard. You will be an engaged team member, but also able to work independently.

 You will have a skill level (including experience and other qualifications) equivalent to achievement of a professional qualification or postgraduate degree. You will be professional, clear thinking and act as a role model within the Change Portfolio Office.
