The Department and role purpose
The International Office is responsible for:
- The recruitment of international students to all areas of the university to meet institutional targets Supporting and managing the development of international partnerships to raise the University's global profile and to support academic colleagues in developing international links and collaborations Managing the University's student mobility programmes (Erasmus+ and other exchange partnerships) to meet the University's student mobility targets
The Deputy Head International Student Recruitment (Undergraduate) supports the Head of International Recruitment in the development and delivery of the University's International Recruitment Strategy and contributes more broadly to the implementation of the University's Global Strategy. They will deputise for the Head of International Recruitment when required.
The post holder is responsible for the management and development of a number of Regional Managers and International Officers, as well as their own portfolio of recruitment markets. The post has a focus on international undergraduate recruitment, including the development and management of the University's relationships with a broad network of international schools and associated counselling platforms. Working directly with the Head of International Recruitment, the post holder will be responsibility for meeting University targets in relation to the University's International Recruitment strategy and agreed key performance indicators (KPIs).
Allocation of regional responsibilities for this post depends on the experience of the successful candidate; we would welcome applicants with experience of South Asia, South East Asia, or MENA. Regional responsiblities may change over time in line with the external student recruitment landscape and the priorities of Durham University.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build a strong network both internally and externally is essential to undertake this role. Experience of or professional qualifications in either marketing or data analysis would be beneficial.
