The Centre for Teaching Excellence & Student Success (CTESS) was established in 2018 and incorporates three teams. The first coordinates the professional development of our academic staff and leads on aspects of learning and teaching enhancement. The second focuses on widening participation and the delivery of our Access & Participation Plan (APP) at St Marys. The third is our Quality & Standards team which includes 5 Quality & Standards Managers.

The University has recently approved a new 5-year Learning & Teaching Strategy that will draw on the experience of online and blended delivery during the COVID pandemic, and the principles of inclusive teaching, and is also in the process of updating its mission statement – titled Vision 2030.

It has also, within this mission document, identified collaborative academic partnerships as a key strand of growth over the next 5 years. This is therefore an exciting time to join the University, and the Quality & Standards team in particular, which plays a key role in facilitating the approval and ongoing quality monitoring of collaborative partnerships.

To provide dedicated support for the development of collaborative partnerships at St Mary’s, as part of the Quality & Standards team in CTESS. To be responsible for and oversee all aspects of quality assurance and enhancement relating to collaborative provision in accordance with the UK Quality Code and institutional policies and regulations. This will include the responsibility for providing expert advice and guidance for all collaborative partnerships’, facilitating the approval and review processes for new partnerships, and ongoing annual quality monitoring.

The postholder will work closely with academic staff to develop programme specifications, approval documentation and programme and module modifications for all programmes. They will also support collaborative partners during the lifetime of a partnership, and engage in quality enhancement of teaching of partnership programmes in line with the University’s strategies and policies and in advising the Head of Quality & Academic Partnerships, and ensuring that any quality risks in their portfolio are proactively and robustly managed and mitigated.

The role requires close collaborative and collegial working not only with other members of the CTESS team, but staff and students within Faculties/Institutes, staff in other professional services (including Global Engagement, Registry, Careers etc), and key role holders in partner institutions. This Quality and Standards Manager role is new post that sits alongside two other existing Quality and Standard Manager for collaborative provision, and is expected to work alongside the whole quality and standards team to meet the needs of the Service.
