About the Role

The position will make an outstanding contribution to the academic leadership of the Academic Unit’s teaching of undergraduate, honours and postgraduate programs. This balanced academic position will also make innovative contributions to the advancement of teaching and enhance the research profile of the unit through the development of a program of collaborative research supported by competitive research grant funding.

An appointment will be made at Academic Level C or D, dependent on the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful applicant. Please refer to position description for specific criteria.

Core Responsibilities

Level C

  • Provide academic leadership to support the Academic Unit’s teaching and learning initiatives including teaching and assessing undergraduate/postgraduate courses in the Academic Unit’s programs
  • Contribute to maintaining the quality of courses through course review, development and evaluation
  • Conduct research and scholarly activity, which results in publications in academic refereed and professional journals and the presentation of conference papers and seminars
  • Supervise/ Co-supervise higher degree by research (HDR) students
  • Attract funding, including category one and other competitive grants

Level D responsibilities require a more significant leadership contribution in teaching and learning, research and scholarship, community and the profession and academic governance and administration.

Essential Skills and Experience

Level C

  • A PhD qualification and national and/or international record of achievement in a relevant research field together with current registration of eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Board Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated experience and a commitment to high quality, flexible teaching and learning outcomes, using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies and modes of delivery
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of academic leadership to develop a culture of teaching and learning excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance the research profile of the academic unit through collaborative research and to publish research findings
  • Evidence of successful competitive research grant applications, research impact and outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting research or scholarly activity, which results in publications in peer reviewed journals

Level D applicants must demonstrate more significant experience in leadership and achievement in the areas of teaching and learning, research and scholarship, community and the profession and academic governance and administration.
