Working within the Department of Architecture and the Built Environment, you will contribute to the Architecture Subject Group to enhance the academic activities and student learning experience within our Interior Architecture programme.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with experience in:

  • Interior Architecture
  • Creative Heritage
  • Adaptive reuse

Our RIBA NE Award winning Sutherland Studios provide our staff and over 400 students of Architecture and Interior Architecture with outstanding facilities and affirm the design studios place at the centre of our educational ideology.

Therefore, we seek interest from high calibre candidates who have a familiarity with studio-based design teaching and who will:

  • Enhance the Subject Group and the Department through quality contribution to the design, development and delivery of curriculum content and module/programme management in Interior Architecture.
  • Provide expertise to support the academic, research and enterprise activity within Interior Architecture, specifically within the fields of creative, heritage and adaptive reuse and can also include; the interior, design education and/or professional practice.
  • Contribute to research activities in alignment with Northumbria University’s REF 2021 Unit of Assessment 13 submission, particularly within the field of research by design, built artefact and/or publication.

You must hold a first degree, with subject expertise in Interior Architecture, design, or adaptive reuse and have or be working towards a PhD, or have equivalent professional experience in design practice.
