Lecturer in Biomedical Science

Reference: H-61707454-02

DMU is an ambitious, globally minded and culturally rich university with a strong commitment to the public good. We strive to maintain a stimulating and inclusive environment that champions difference and celebrates success.

We’re asking ourselves some fundamental but hugely important and far-reaching questions at DMU, such as, what will be the education of the future that we want to provide? Who are our students, and how do we genuinely remove barriers to study?

Faculty / Directorate

The Faculty of Health and Life sciences is a home to four specialist Schools – Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Leicester School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine and Leicester School of Pharmacy. The Faculty educates and develops professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences offers a number UG and PG programmes, including BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science and MSc Advanced Biomedical Science.

Role

We are seeking to appoint a self-motivated individual to join our dynamic Biomedical Sciences team. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with expertise to teach across the field of Biomedical Sciences.

As a Lecturer in Biomedical Science, you will be engaged primarily with high quality teaching, assessment and research project supervision on all programmes related to Biomedical Sciences. Expected to teach and contribute in a range of modules including Blood Sciences, Microbiology, Pathology and other Biomedical Science subjects as required. Provide pastoral support to our students and also actively contribute to course management and course development. You will contribute to the School’s core activities including but not limited to student recruitment and development of projects to improve student experience.

Ideal Candidate

You should have a degree and either have completed a PhD in a Biomedical Science discipline (or nearing completion) or have an equivalent experience as a practicing HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a demonstrated ability for transition to academia. You will have experience of blended learning approaches to provide customised and flexible learning experience, conducting laboratory practical experiments and undergraduate project supervision or work-based learning supervision. If you are seeking a new challenge in your career and interested in teaching and learning, this is an excellent opportunity.
