The Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (RSAA) is the leading research school in Australia in the field of astronomy and astrophysics, and has been ranked in the top-10 in the world in space science. The School is located a 20-minute drive from the main Acton campus of ANU and the centre of Canberra, Australia’s capital city. We also operate Australia's premier optical and infrared astronomical observatory, Siding Spring Observatory (SSO), located on the edge of the Warrumbungles National Park near Coonabarabran, NSW.
The School Manager is responsible for the provision of strategic advice to the Director and leads the School's administration team. This team is responsible for ensuring high-level support to all staff, students, and visitors in relation to finance, student administration, human resources, marketing and communications, engagement with government, and business and community sector stakeholders. The position contributes significantly to College and University level planning and works in partnership with colleagues in College functional areas to achieve administrative goals.
To excel in this role, you will have extensive demonstrated experience in management and a track record in the supervision of staff, along with the capacity to build and lead teams. Your ability to lead by example, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will enable you to foster respectful and productive working relationships with staff, students, and colleagues at all levels in line with the RSAA Values Statement.
