Fully Skilled Machinist required to manufacture bespoke component parts for use in World Class Education and Research. 

To be successful in this application, you will have skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 in mechanical engineering or relevant engineering discipline with proven work experience acquired in relevant technical support roles and job-related training. and have an excellent background in precision engineering. 

You will be able to use your considerable skills and experience to manufacture complex and high precision work, machining components from specialist materials using a range of conventional machine tools such as Centre Lathes, Vertical Mills and Surface Grinders. Along with experience of CNC machining including multi-axis CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, WaterJet Cutters and Wire EDM. The ability to program, set and operate would be highly beneficial although training will be provided. You will also possess excellent hand skills.

We are looking for someone who is excited at the thought of joining a team at the forefront of Engineering Education and Research, manufacturing parts that will be used in all environments from beneath the oceans to outer space and everything in between. 

You will need to have excellent communication and time management skills and be able to work in a  changing environment. You will be used to working to tight tolerances and be comfortable in independently producing one off component parts to Engineering drawings.

The designated working hours are 08.30 am – 16.30 pm (excluding 1 hour break during this period) Monday to Friday, or at other times as designated by the Head of Department or their representative.
