About Business Services 

Business Services provides a full range of class leading information technology, facilities management, finance, HR and health and safety services to all operating entities of the University.

The Infrastructure Services portfolio is comprised of five service clusters:

  1. Applications and Technology Management responsible for data centre and facilities, network and telephony, storage, servers, access and security 
  2. Campus Services responsible for maintenance, infrastructure, sustainability, cleaning, security, transport and utilities 
  3. Client Services responsible for the Service Centre, onsite support, service management, and relationship management 
  4. Research Computing Services responsible for research specific infrastructure 
  5. Space Management responsible for spatial analysis, spatial data management and leasing management 
  6. Melbourne Bioresources responsible for the provision and maintenance of facilities, handling, transport and storage of animals 

About the Role 

You will provide support to all University staff and students relating to services underpinned by Microsoft Endpoint and Citrix technologies. Acting as the Technical SME and working closely with the Microsoft Endpoints Team Leader, you will ensure that this technology stack is built, run and scaled to achieve key outcomes in line with core business objectives. You will support the team lead to provide guidance and leadership in the management of the Microsoft and Citrix endpoint domain's roadmap.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Provide expertise throughout the lifecycle of projects and systems, to ensure sound technical decisions are made with regards to the reliability, availability and manageability of new and existing systems 
  • Understand the strategic and technology roadmaps from Microsoft and Citrix to strategically assess how future capabilities will be harnessed and deliver value to the University 
  • Drive service transition activities including project transition to operations, release and deployment management, service validation and testing, knowledge management, change and configuration management and support 
  • Utilise a broad range of technical skills (including but not limited to scripting and automation) and understanding of the various infrastructures and applications used within the University to drive operational efficiencies with a shift-left mentality 

About You

You will be a keen problem-solver with strong attention to detail. Your excellent interpersonal skills will support you in managing external vendors and outsourced services to delivery effective service outcomes. You will be solutions-focused, with a particular interest in using automation tools to streamline the delivery of technology services. You’ll be a natural team-player and will enjoy negotiating and collaborating with a wide range of internal and external service providers.

Ideally, you will further have: 

  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent mix of education and relevant experience 
  • A qualification in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and/or previous experience using ITIL at a practical level 
  • Advanced industry-based certification relevant to the Microsoft technical domain: 
    • Mandatory: Citrix certification 
    • Mandatory: Microsoft Endpoint Manager (SCCM, Intune, Autopilot) Certification 
    • Advantageous: VMware Certification 
  • A strong breadth of experience in a technology services group within a large complex organization and multi-sourced services environment; including a good working knowledge of documented service agreements, management processes and systems 
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (including SCCM, Intune & Autopilot) and Citrix infrastructure (including Citrix Cloud utilising both PVS and MCS technologies)
