Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Intelligent Infrastructure in the Department of Civil Engineering (Ref.: 511435), to commence on July 1, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.  Tenure consideration at an earlier timeline is possible for outstanding candidates.

The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the five engineering departments in the Faculty of Engineering.  The Department has a world class reputation for leading research and teaching in civil engineering, and nurtured high-calibre leaders for the community as well as the civil engineering profession.  The Department was ranked 19th in the world under the QS University Subject Rankings 2021 in the subject area of civil and structural engineering. The Department is active in research in construction management and transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and water and environmental engineering. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with relevant experience in teaching and research.  A strong background in intelligent infrastructure is required and experience in the following areas would be desirable: smart materials and structures; climate adaptable infrastructure; sustainable design and construction; and structural health monitoring using big data approach and artificial intelligence.  The appointee will be expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses and supervise research students and projects.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At the current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
