The PolyU-DRRC Novel Material Science and Technology Innovation Centre (the “Centre”) is a research centre jointly established by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Dehaa Rossun Research Centre Limited.  Hosted by Institute of Textiles and Clothing, the Centre’s objective is to conduct research and development of cutting-edge technologies and related products on novel materials, health care products, functional care products and smart wearable products, aiming to accelerate the creation of industrial technology standards and transfer the developed technologies to the industries and benefit the society.

Research Assistant Professor in Fashion and Textile Technology (Ref. 22011401)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) conduct research in thermal comfort and related areas under the direction of the Centre Director as the main duty, and actively pursue external research grants, such as General Research Fund as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator;

(b) assist the Centre Director in supervising the research and activities of the Centre;

(c) provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level; and

(d) contribute to the Centre’s service.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a doctoral degree and preferably postdoctoral experience in thermal comfort modelling, heat and mass transfer in fibrous systems, functional clothing and textiles or a related discipline;

(b) have demonstrated promise of a high level of creativity in research in some subdivisions of his/her field;

(c) be able to demonstrate effective interdisciplinary teamwork; and

(d) be highly proficient in written and spoken English. Other language skill like Putonghua is an additional advantage.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive package including a medical benefits plan and a gratuity payable upon completion of the term which is normally for three years initially, with possibility of extension for another three years.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
