About the Role

Located in the Faculty of Arts, the Academic Support Office (ASO) supports the development, delivery and quality assurance of teaching and learning activities. The ASO manages essential functions in the following key areas: selection, scholarships, undergraduate, graduate coursework and graduate research programs, student enrichment and eTeaching and eResearch.

The role of Academic Programs Officer sits within the Curriculum Delivery Support Team in the ASO. The Academic Programs Officer plays a key role in the successful operation and organisation of the ASO’s activities and provides high level administrative support across the Faculty. The role will work collaboratively across the ASO to deliver high quality support in the administration of undergraduate, honours and graduate coursework programs in Schools and the wider Faculty.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Manage the interface with Student and Scholarly Services (SaSS) in relation to student timetabling, supporting seamless management and advice to students
  • Provide successful teaching and learning support across the Faculty including results processing, production of the timetable, and other teaching and learning activities
  • Manage advanced standing/credit, Study Abroad/exchange requests and the Dean’s Honours List and provide support for student enquiries

About You

Your outstanding communication skills will allow you to work collaboratively and flexibly within a team environment with changing demands, as well as maintain effective working relationships. Your ability to exercise sensitivity and discretion will be an important factor in this role, as will maintaining a high level of awareness of university policies and procedures, issues and activities relevant to the area of responsibility.

Ideally, you will further have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and or equivalent mix of education and relevant experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with an ability to relate positively on an individual basis with a wide range of people from students to senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent and informed judgement in problem-solving.
