About the opportunity

Sydney Musculoskeletal Health partners with leaders in health to support research, clinical services, education and training. We employ evidence-based research to improve musculoskeletal health and physical activity.

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to provide operational leadership for the Faculty of Medicine and Health's Flagship Research Centre, Sydney Musculoskeletal Health (Sydney MSK). Utilising your leadership and operational management skills, you will provide Sydney MSK with the expertise to meet its core objectives whilst supporting the strategic research agenda of the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • manage workforce and operational resources allocated to the Centre
  • provide operational and administrative leadership by translating strategic goals into operational initiatives
  • oversee the allocation of financial resources to support a responsive research environment
  • ensure effective financial governance and control providing reporting, where required, for submission to committees, funding bodies or FMH finance
  • manage multiple research project activities ensuring the on-time achievement of milestones and deliverables
  • manage and influence internal and external stakeholder communications and resource allocation
  • participate in a Community of Practice run across the portfolio of FMH Research Centres, contributing strategic and operational support, and advice on best practice and research management.

About you

  • proven experience and background in research management, administration, health services, finance and business
  • extensive experience in operational governance, administrative leadership and the capability to translate strategic goals into operational initiatives
  • proven experience in research management with the ability monitor multiple streams of research across multiple topics
  • advanced interpersonal and relationship building skills including robust negotiating skills to deliver insights and recommendations to a broad and diverse range of stakeholders
  • excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff, students, management and external stakeholders
  • capability in absorbing a high volume of information and the ability to work under pressure to balance competing agendas and demands in a fast paced, time pressured environment
  • strong analytical, problem-solving expertise, effective time management skills and highly developed business acumen.
