Job description
The faculty of Dentistry Oral & Craniofacial Sciences is the largest, most influential centre of excellence in the UK for oral and dental research,with an outstanding record of or quality assurance in learning and teaching.  The faculty’s international reputation is reflected by our high ranking in the QS World University Rankings for Dentistry. 
 
We are seeking to recruit senior clinical academic staff in Prosthodontics.  The successful applicant will play a full role in the teaching of Prosthodontics for undergraduate and postgraduate specialty training programmes and will be expected to lead a research programme in the fields of tooth wear, dental materials and translational clinical research, or other topics in line with our research priorities.
 
The appointment(s) will be made as Senior Lecturer on the Honorary Consultant salary scale according to seniority (£82.096-110,683plus £2,162 London Weighting).

Key responsibilities

  • Undertaking research complementary to the overall research strategy of the academic Centre, broader Faculty and Kings Health Partners (KHP) Dental CAG and at a level commensurate to a KCL Senior Lecturer appointment.  
  • Delivery of high-quality teaching within the discipline of Prosthodontics to Undergraduate and Postgraduates students of Kings College London.  
  • Providing outstanding patient care in line with expected standards of clinical - Delivery of high-quality teaching within the discipline of Prosthodontics to Undergraduate and Postgraduates students of Kings College London

  • Delivery of high-quality research including peer-reviewed publications and grants, contributing to future Research Excellence Framework (REF 
  • Providing outstanding patient care in line with expected standards of clinical delivery 
  • Undertaking of internationally leading research complementary to 
  • the overall research strategy of the Dental Institute and Kings Health Partners (KHP) Dental CAG and at a level commensurate to a KCL clinical appointment

Skills, knowledge, and experience 
 
1.       Strong team building and motivational skills with the ability to energise and inspire staff

4.       Good computing skills. 
5.       Ability to manage multiple and demanding stakeholders whilst working to deadlines.

Essential criteria
 
1.       Full GDC registration with licence to practice and eligible for entry on  
Specialist Register for Restorative Dentistry and/or Prosthodontics 
2.       PhD or equivalent 
3.       Specialty training in Prosthodontics or Restorative Dentistry 
4.       Demonstrable evidence of competitive and externally funded research at a level commensurate with a senior lecturer appointment 
5.       Solid record of publication of high-quality research outputs in leading specialist and non-specialist peer reviewed academic journals 
6.       Sound knowledge of research methodologies and governance requirements 
7.       Experience of advanced clinical procedures in Prosthodontics such as Implant restorations and tooth wear. 
8.       Experience of multidisciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients 
9.       The ability to take individual responsibility for planning and undertaking own work, according to clinical and scientific deadlines 
10.   The ability to develop and lead a solid programme of research 
 
Desirable criteria
 
1.       Working as part of a multidisciplinary research team, relying on, and supporting others effectively  
2.       Use of computers/software including database and research literature searching  
3.       Understanding of the concepts and application of clinical governance
