• Based in Clinical and Health Sciences at the City East campus
• Two full-time continuing positions (Level A & Level B) and one fixed term contract for three years (Level B)
• Commencement Salary: Level A $72,218 and Level B $101,784 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for three lecturers in Midwifery to join the team in Clinical and Health Sciences at UniSA. Utilising your contemporary professional and discipline-related knowledge in teaching and practice you will contribute to the delivery of teaching and associated administrative and scholarship activities within the School’s undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs.

The largest in South Australia, the University of South Australia’s School of Nursing and Midwifery provides quality education to midwives, nurses and health professionals. Accommodated in purpose-built teaching facilities, incorporating fully equipped simulated health services, the School offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs at the City East, Mount Gambier, and Whyalla campuses.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and deliver courses on campus, online or via other appropriate methods
• Maintaining the quality of the courses through course review and development to meet industry and organisational needs, educational requirements and quality standards
• Applying research and scholarship to the development of courses including investigating and developing innovative teaching methods
• Contribute to the activities of the Academic Unit by undertaking scholarship in areas of teaching and learning practice
• Undertake course coordination duties and contribute to program planning, development and evaluation

Essential Skills and Experience

Level A

• Bachelor of Midwifery and a Master’s Degree or PhD qualification, and evidence of current registration, or eligibility for registration, as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
• Ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including the preparation of appropriate teaching materials and resources
• Ability to enhance the research profile of the Academic Unit through scholarship and supervision of coursework Master’s degree and/or HDR students
• Demonstrated clinical experience/expertise and understanding of global and national policies and priorities in health and midwifery practice
• High level written and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties and colleagues

Level B

• Bachelor of Midwifery and a Master’s degree and/or PhD degree qualification in a relevant health discipline
• A demonstrated contribution to the profession and/or discipline of midwifery
• Demonstrated academic teaching experience and in using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies including simulation technologies
• Clinical experience/expertise and understanding of global and national policies and priorities in health and midwifery practice
• Ability to enhance the research profile of the Academic Unit through scholarship and supervision of coursework Master’s degree and/or HDR students
