Applications are invited for a Temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or 2 within UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering

This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching. As part of the H2020 project, entitled "Seamless and safe human centred robotic applications for novel collaborative workplaces - SHERLOCK", applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the area of collaborative robotics.

Our objective is to develop novel methods for enabling the closer collaboration of human operators and robots in standard industrial production environments. The focus of our research will be to explore, develop and utilise novel human tracking, object detection, robot control and simulation technologies in challenging production and assembly applications in order to improve production performance and throughput.

The research will exploit technologies related to digital simulation, production monitoring, industrial safety, real time control, robotics, vision systems and advanced mechatronics. Applications are sought from excellent candidates with research experience in the areas of robotics and control.

The position will involve significant interaction with leading European industrial partners.

PD1: €39,131 - €45,158 per annum Or PD2: €46,442 - €50,530 per annum

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
