About the Department of Rural Health

The key purpose of the Department is to provide professional health education and research training in a rural context with an aim to increase the rural health workforce. About the Role

The role of Senior Lecturer Child and Adolescent Health (Shepparton) is an important role supporting medical students in Shepparton, ensuring smooth delivery of the child and adolescent health teaching and clinical placements at Goulburn Valley Health, Shepparton, and contributing to medical student assessments and examinations.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Prepare and deliver small group tutorials, demonstrations, clinical sessions and other modes of teaching.
  • Organise clinic and ward round experience in child and adolescent health for students at Goulburn Valley Health.
  • Participate in, and mark, in-term child and adolescent health assessments of medical students.
  • Attend meetings and committee work within the University and Hospital as required.

About You

Your success in this role will be supported by your natural ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with all levels of medical practitioners, and other health professionals, in hospitals and the community. You will also be willing to collaborate and actively contribute to all activities of the Rural Clinical School.

Ideally, you will further have:

  • A medical qualification recognisable in Australia and Fellowship of an Australian College (e.g. FACP) or an equivalent and recognised postgraduate clinical qualification
  • Experience in clinical teaching, medical education, and curriculum delivery
  • An understanding of the needs of students and ability and willingness to counsel students as required.
  • Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills.
