The Director of Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC MU) announces an open position BIOSTATISTICIAN

CEITEC is a research centre specializing in the fields of life sciences, advanced materials, and technologies, and aims to establish itself as a recognized centre for basic as well as applied research. CEITEC offers state-of-the-art infrastructure and attractive offers to employ excellent researchers from the world over.

The Plant Sciences Core Facility is a part of the state-of-the-art CEITEC core infrastructure, and predominantly provides services to the academic community. Along with these service duties we use our consultative expertise in methodology development. Thus, we are involved in a broad range of projects requiring in-depth biostatistical analysis of many kinds of plant datasets (phenotypic data, chemical kinetics, fluorescence and chlorophyll data, agricultural data, etc.), as well as image processing and analysis.

What you will do:

  • Biostatistical analysis of data sets using e.g., Machine Learning, Regression analysis, ANOVA, Mixed models, Bayesian analysis etc.
  • Programming with at least one of the following SW packages: R/Python/SAS. More than one is a big plus
  • Formulation of biologically relevant conclusions in cooperation with biologists
  • Independent processing of assigned tasks
  • Assistance in the development of  Methods and applications

Prospective candidates should fulfil the following criteria:

  • PhD degree (preferably in Biostatistics)
  • Motivation and interest in cutting-edge science
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent English– spoken and written

Desirable but not required:

  • Motivated person with a collaborative mind set
  • Willingness to actively engage with the wider academic community
