About the role

You will develop, deliver and evaluate the University’s staff diversity and inclusion programs, plans and priorities to support a high quality, inclusive, equitable and accessible employee experience. You will also lead action plans, working collaboratively across the University, engaging with managers/leaders and external community stakeholders. The areas and plans to be coordinated include, but not limited to Gender Equality Action Plan and SAGE Action Plan and you will also contribute to the diversity and inclusion aspects of the employee experience, staff wellbeing and belonging including the annual University submission for the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).

The position will lead all staff equity, diversity and inclusion solutions across the University and deliver on strategic outcomes in collaboration with peers from Human Resources, and key stakeholders across the University.

About you

Reporting to the Associate Director, Organisational Development and Diversity, you will possess a combination of relevant experience and education training and knowledge and understanding of the higher education and vocational education and training sectors in Australia and our changes and challenges.

You will have knowledge and relevant training in understanding the drivers of gender-based violence in a trauma-informed approach to the management of sexual harm and discriminatory harassment disclosures, and demonstrated experience and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. You will have prior experience with end-to-end case management, and anunderstanding of current equity and diversity issues, legislation, guiding documents and familiarity with research and best-practice in equity initiatives within organisational or community context will be highly regarded.

You will also possess skills and expertise in project management anddata analysis which will assist you to engage, influence and work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders to create shared plans and strategies.

You will:

  • develop, implement and evaluate institution-wide strategies, and programs;
  • improve staff representation and retention with a focus on equity groups;
  • collate, interpret and report on data and statistics relevant to diversity and inclusion staff matters;
  • undertake the role of staff diversity and inclusion representative on relevant committees; and
  • provide confidential advice and support where appropriate to staff that may be experiencing harassment, or domestic violence.
