Data Analyst in the Emergency Medicine Unit

Applications are invited for appointment as Data Analyst (in the grade of Post-doctoral Fellow/Senior Research Assistant) in the Emergency Medicine Unit of the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 509137), to commence as soon as possible for one to three year(s), with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

The Emergency Medicine Unit is seeking individuals with experience in bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science or artificial intelligence to address some of the grand challenges in medical science in emergency medicine.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Information Technology, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline.  They should have an interest in statistical analysis of biomedical data, computational biology, computer science, and bioinformatics.  Experience in deep learning, genomics, and application of other artificial intelligence approaches to medical data would be an added advantage. Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered as Senior Research Assistant.

Applicants should be a driven and committed person with good oral and written communication skills in English.  They should also have the ability to work independently, participate in highly collaborative projects, and contribute intellectually to research development.  They need a hands-on mentality, perseverance, a critical mind-set and should be able to work well with a team of colleagues dedicated to cutting edge emergency medicine research.  The appointee will investigate the molecular mechanisms of acute illness and injury using a variety of molecular and medical data.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment of Senior Research Assistant on a two- to three-year fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
