Job description

Operating within the HR Specialist Solution Services, the Organisational Development team’s purpose is to support the institution in achieving its strategic aims through consultancy and guidance on effective organisational practice, staff engagement and the provision of formal leadership, management and individual development.

To help deliver this, the Organisational Development team is seeking to recruit an Organisational Development Programme Manager (Staff Wellbeing & Engagement) to support the development, maintenance and appraisal of several organisation-wide projects, processes and programmes.

Working closely with the Organisational Development Manager, the post holder will support the cocreation of a staff mental health and wellbeing framework at Kings. This framework will in turn be used to help underpin a wealth of activities and support around both staff engagement and mental health and wellbeing.

Central to this framework will be the management, review and expansion of our Personal Effectiveness hub. Working with key Organisational Development team members, the successful candidate will be expected to create a rich, relevant and impactful programme of courses/webinars to reflect and compliment the work we do with our management community.

In addition to this, the post holder will be expected to provide support to the Organisational Development Manager and Senior Organisational Development Consultant on key strategic cultural projects. This will include the likes of our all-staff survey, staff inductions, Our Principles in Action (behavioural framework) and our Positive Workplace Culture initiative.

Furthermore, the post holder will also be required to create and deliver Organisational Development communications across the portfolio of our work. Under the stewardship of the Senior Organisational Development Consultant, this will include producing impactful promotion campaigns, quality checking copy, devising new methods for staff outreach and providing analytics to measure communication impact.

In order to deliver all the above, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate a clear understanding of staff-focused mental health and wellbeing programmes, as well as development of a strategic approach to supporting staff engagement initiatives. They will also be expected to have a clear understanding of the impact of Organisational Development on overall organisational performance.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will be a positive, motivated & proactive self-starter, who prides themselves on resiliency and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit. They will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, individuality through collaboration, highly skilled administration, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement. This role is for somebody who can manage their own time and willing to work hard to create team success.

This post will be offered on a full-time, indefinite contract.

Key responsibilities

  • Review, develop and manage the creation of Organisational Development’s staff mental health and wellbeing resources and activities, which will be used by colleagues across the university.
  • Support the Organisational Development Manager and key stakeholders in the cocreation of a Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing framework for all King’s staff.
  • Manage the development, implementation and appraisal of mental health, wellbeing and development courses/webinars, as part of the Organisational Development Personal Effectiveness hub.
  • Manage Mental Health and Wellbeing events (including Wellbeing Month, Mental Health and Wellbeing Summit and any other internal and external activities)
  • Support our Senior Organisational Development Consultant on culture projects such as relaunching Our Principles in Action and Positive Workplace Culture
  • Lead a project to develop and revamp Organisational Development’s induction support for staff new to Kings. This also includes management and delivery of the Welcome to Kings events.
  • Work with the Organisational Development Manager and provide support and administration for Kings-wide staff engagement survey.
  • Support all Organisational Development communications across the portfolio of our work. This includes creating impactful content, disseminating out to the organisation and reviewing impacts.
  • Support the Organisational Development Director and Organisational Development Manager with related specialised Organisational Development projects as required.
  • Engage in appropriate professional activities to keep knowledge base and skills up to date and to develop them further.
