Applications are invited for appointment as Associate Professor with tenure or Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Japanese or Korean Art History, with preference for candidates with experience in digital humanities, in the School of Humanities (Art History) (Ref.: 509027), to commence on September 1, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.  Appointment as Assistant Professor will be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent by the date of appointment. The area of specialization of the position may be broadly conceived to include transnational/intercultural contexts and analyses, and is open in its range of periods and media. Special consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate critical research in digital humanities, and/or who can engage students in the use of digital tools. The successful candidate is expected to develop rigorous and critical research, to excel in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and to participate in administrative duties. The current teaching load is set at three courses per year. We have a robust programme with 106 undergraduate majors, 24 M.A. students, and a small number of M.Phil. and Ph. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
