Since its establishment as a university 27 years ago, City University of Hong Kong has developed to become one of the world’s top universities, currently ranked #53 in the world (QS 2022) and #4 among top 50 universities under age 50 (QS 2021).
The University comprises nine Colleges and Schools, including Business, Creative Media, Data Science, Energy and Environment, Engineering, Law, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Science, and Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences. Our curricula are designed to promote knowledge creation, discovery and innovative thinking by integrating teaching and research at all levels.
Applications and nominations are invited for the post of President.
The President will provide visionary leadership for the University, in alignment with the mission and Strategic Plan of the University. The President will further advance the University’s academic excellence in research and professional education and develop its international standing.
The appointee must have a doctoral degree and a distinguished record of accomplishment in higher education. S/he must have a proven record of leadership as well as significant academic and administrative experience, preferably at a senior management level in a university, together with an appreciation of the values and objectives of a public university dedicated to quality teaching and scholarship, and an understanding of Hong Kong’s education scene.
The successful candidate should have personal qualifications and characteristics including the highest degree of personal integrity, outstanding communication skills, a consensus approach to management and decision making and a high level of energy required to lead a dynamic institution operating in a rapidly changing environment.
The successful candidate will be offered an initial fixed term contract for five years. The remuneration package will be highly competitive and commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the appointee.
