At TU Dresden, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Circuits and Systems, the Chair of Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering is offering a project position as

Research Associate (m/f/x)

(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible for a period of 3 years within the framework of the project "Explainable artificial intelligence for fault diagnosis: Impacts on human diagnostic processes and performance" (XAI-DIA) funded by the German Research Foundation. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG)

Tasks: Projects conducts research on explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) for fault detection and process explainability in industrial manufacturing.

Requirements: very good to good university degree in the field of electrical engineering, informatics or related fields; proven machine learning (ML) track record with advanced knowledge in the field of Neural Networks for NLP and/or CV; advanced programming skills in Python and at least one ML related library (Pytorch/Tensorflow). We expect enthusiasm for cutting edge scientific research as well as the willingness for independent, conceptual work in an interdisciplinary team. Therefore, very good written and spoken English skills are mandatory. Knowledge of specific state of the art sequence to sequence architectures (e.g. Transformers) is desirable.
