Teaching Assistant, Undergraduate Research, Undergraduate Education

Job Description 

You will be part of the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) team working with the Associate Provost (Undergraduate Education) to advance and coordinate undergraduate research opportunities and experience across the university.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the UROP Manager in liaising with all the NUS deaneries and faculties and in identifying opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Facilitate the implementation of approval guidelines, course structure and teaching plan for UROP modules that adhere to policies and guidelines from the top management
  • Assist in reviewing research proposals for the UROP modules based on defined approval guidelines, and in identifying opportunities for student-led research proposals
  • Provide timely guidance to both students and teachers regarding their concerns and questions in the course structure and on assessing student learning outcomes
  • Undertake the collection of data pertaining to UROP intake rate, teaching quality and feedbacks from both students and teachers every semester and ensure they are updated and catalogued systematically
  • Develop pedagogies of teaching research to undergraduates and conduct and write research papers on these pedagogies
  • Other duties assigned by Associate Provost (Undergraduate Education)

Qualifications

  • A good university degree, preferably in Arts, Business Administration, Communication Studies, Science, or Social Sciences
  • Applicants with research experience preferred
  • Interested in advancing a multi-disciplinary undergraduate education and staying up-to-date with latest pedagogical developments
  • Strong organisational, project management and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English, and able to provide clear communication and present ideas effectively
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with the team and the faculty members
  • Proficient in IT and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word and Powerpoint)
