  • Salary Package: Lecturer (Level B) from $103,914 to $122,947 p.a., plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading

We seek highly motivated, flexible, teaching innovators with extensive tertiary legal education experience for appointment as Teaching & Leadership Academics in two positions as Lecturer in Law.

Reporting to the Dean of School, you will contribute to the development and delivery of teaching in core units across the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes. You will enhance the student experience through the delivery of outstanding teaching, focusing on pedagogic innovation, and governance and leadership of academic programmes. You will coordinate units within our accredited LLB and JD degrees, contribute to teaching and learning committees, and drive new initiatives and opportunities in these areas within the School.

These roles are required to demonstrate leadership in the design of curriculum and assessment delivery across the law courses consistent with accreditation requirements and will include participation in the collation and submission of materials for accreditation rounds.

About You

The successful candidates will have extensive experience in legal education and teaching innovation with the ability to lead teaching teams. You will have demonstrated experience developing and delivering core Priestley units and content. Applicants with experience teaching Equity and Trusts, Property Law, Corporations Law, Administrative Law, Civil and Criminal Procedure, Ethics and Evidence are particularly welcome. You will demonstrate leadership capability in your capacity to comprehend the broader strategic objectives of the Law School and University, whilst recognising the contribution of each topic to the overall Program and the importance of satisfying external accreditation requirements.

  • An undergraduate degree in Law and PhD or Higher Degree in Law or Adult Education
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in the core required units of the Law degree: Preference is given to applicants with experience teaching Equity and Trusts, Property Law, Corporations Law, Administrative Law, Civil and Criminal Procedure, Legal Ethics and Evidence.
  • Experience in unit co-ordination and delivering high quality learning and teaching, including the design, delivery, and management of lectures, tutorials, assessment, and support staffing pools in large teaching units
  • Demonstrated innovation in pedagogy, teaching practice, and online learning
  • Demonstrated success in the academic leadership and the delivery/development of units using innovative approaches, including evidence of positive outcomes
  • Evidence of creating a superior student experience and engagement
  • Proven communication skills, with an ability to relate to staff and students from all backgrounds and to represent the School to external stakeholders and the general public
  • Awareness of the standards and delivery of accredited programs and the accreditation process for law.
