The School of Human Sciences has recently re-located in the fantastic and newly refurbished Dreadnought building on the World Heritage site at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. This move, along with the creation of new bespoke facilities, is part of significant investment in the School and part of a long-term plan to build internationally leading research and teaching in the Faculty. As part of this investment we are looking to appoint a public health professional to help grow and develop the School.

You will be joining a School and Faculty that is building a strong interdisciplinary and cross-professional approach to solving the grand challenges facing society. We are looking for colleagues who will have a commitment to maintaining and building the University’s excellence in teaching and learning, and who are engaging in scholarly activity that has the potential for significant long-term academic and societal impact.

We welcome applications from individuals with an interest in any area of Public Health. This reflects our already strong coverage of core curriculum areas and clear research interest groups.

We would particularly encourage applications from those with an interest in one or more of the following areas:

• Housing Policy and Practice
• Environmental Health / Health Protection
• Leadership and Management

As a Faculty we also welcome candidates whose research work will resonate with one or more new interdisciplinary Faculty Research Centres within the newly formed Institute for Lifecourse Development:

• The Centre for Chronic Illness and Ageing
• The Centre for Inequalities
• The Centre for Mental Health
• The Centre for Professional Workforce Development
• The Centre for Thinking and Learning
• The Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families
• The Centre for Exercise Activity and Rehabilitation

The School has an active and growing research base and performed well in REF2014. Our current performance and continued investment will lead to even better performance in REF2021 and beyond. The University is currently rated TEF silver, reflecting our excellent teaching and learning, and we have realistic aspirations to achieve a TEF rating of ‘gold’ in the forthcoming subject TEF.

We are looking to attract individuals with a strong profile who are able to demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence and innovation. All candidates must demonstrate appropriate experience of teaching in the HE sector for this level.
