Job Details

Northumbria University is delighted to have recently become an approved provider to conduct the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Test of Competence. We are one of five test centres based around the UK. The Test Centres provide Part Two of the NMC’s Test of Competence for international nurses and midwives seeking registration with the NMC and for those nurses and midwives looking to renew their registration after a career break. Part Two is a nursing or midwifery Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) which simulates a clinical environment and various ‘patient’ scenarios which are likely to be encountered by registered nurses and midwives. Candidates are expected to utilise a modern evidence base and effectively demonstrate safe practical application of nursing and midwifery skills. The Test of Competence is blueprinted against the current UK pre-registration standards which are available on the NMC’s website.

Northumbria is busy developing the new test centre on our Coach Lane Campus, a short distance outside Newcastle City Centre, and we are looking to open for business in the Spring of 2022.

We have a number of opportunities in development to support the running and operation of the test centre and examinations and are now in a position to offer the role of NMC Test Centre Coordinator on a three-year fixed term contract.

You will oversee all administrative and reception duties linked to the NMC Competence Test Centre; including scheduling, filing, customer service, record keeping and support the production of regular reports to the NMC. You will be responsible for the management, mentoring and development of two NMC Competence Test Centre Administrators.

The successful candidate will have experience in developing and managing administration and operational processes, have experience of contributing to successful service delivery and have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.

Educated to A level, you will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, have good project management and IT skills and be able to manage teams effectively
