About the Role

The Clinical Psychology Placement Supervisor assists in the functions of the University of New England Psychology Clinic and provides individual and group clinical supervision to clinical psychology trainees, including coordinating, monitoring and reviewing student placements. 

The Clinical Psychology Placement Supervisor contributes to coordination and supervision of a simulated practice placement within the Master of Professional Psychology, and plays an active role in the postgraduate Clinical and Professional Psychology Programs as part of the broader teaching and professional staff team. 

Supervision of professional practice is mandated in the training of clinical psychologists and is intended to serve three functions: (1) monitoring and ensuring client well-being and monitoring and evaluating supervisee competence; (2) supporting supervisee personal and professional well-being; and (3) educating and guiding supervisee’s professional practice.

Skills and Experience

As the Clinical Psychology Placement Supervisor you will have current general registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia as well as current Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology. You are also approved by the Psychology Board of Australia as principal and secondary supervisor for provisional psychologists completing a higher degree program.

You will need to demonstrate your ability to collaborate with members of the Psychology profession and ability to work as part of a team, including liaison, negotiation, conflict resolution and leadership skills. Your current psychology practice and excellent written and verbal communication skills are a key to the success of this role.
