We are seeking an Associate Professor in Sports Therapy within the Department of ASES. Working as part of an exciting, dynamic, award-winning and diverse team covering a wide portfolio of specialities, the post holder will provide leadership for the Sports Therapy course within the Department of ASES. In particular, the post holder will work with the Head of Department ASES, academic staff and stakeholders to support the management and organisation of course delivery in the existing programmes.

Associate Professors provide leadership in stakeholder engagement, learning and teaching, research, knowledge transfer and professional practice, to the benefit of students, the Department, School, the University and the wider community.

The successful post holder will be expected to conduct typical duties of a senior academic (e.g. leadership in ASES), as well as carrying out significant School roles, either managing areas of education, research or knowledge exchange as well as taking on important responsibilities aligned with the School’s priorities. You will also be expected oversee the award-winning SMILEs mentoring project.

You will have a passion for and experience of teaching and student supervision in higher education and a strong commitment to the student experience and careers-first delivery. Working experience and expert knowledge in the area of Sports Therapy is essential in preparing our students for employment and their future career, as well as experience of working with the Society for Sports Therapists.

An appropriate record of research and/or knowledge exchange that compliments the existing interests of the School is an advantage.

Our School of Health, Sport & Biosciences brings together UEL’s innovative research and teaching. We have a successful and expanding portfolio of taught programmes and exciting new postgraduate programmes. You will be primarily based at SportsDock, the University’s world-class sports facility. Opened in 2011, the £21 million facility was the training base for TeamUSA in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Since then, we’ve also hosted sports teams and organisations both professional and amateur, as well as competitions on a local and global scale. This blended environment of teaching within a working university sports facility exposes students to many extra-curricular opportunities from our East London Sport and Workforce Development teams.

We are the most ambitious and the most improved university in the UK for sport, our High Performance Support is paving the way in creating our world class athletic super stars. Our sports scholars include Olympians and senior internationals who represent the University of East London at national and international university competitions, many of whom we are proud to say study on our Applied Sport and Exercise Science courses.
