Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic candidates for a 21-month Postdoctoral research position as a part of the Horizon 2020 project PRECINCT (Preparedness and Resilience Enforcement for Critical INfrastructure Cascading Cyberphysical Threats and effects with focus on district or regional protection) (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101021668). EU Critical Infrastructures (CIs) are increasingly at risk from cyber-physical attacks and natural hazards. Research and emerging solutions focus on the protection of individual CIs, however, the interrelationships between CIs has become more complex for example in smart cities and managing the impacts of cascading effects and enabling rapid recovery is becoming more pertinent and highly challenging.

The focus of the position will be on data mining and analysis of model/game outputs (from a serious game used to identify vulnerabilities to cascading cyber physical threats to critical infrastructures), in addition to network modelling (transportation, electricity and telecommunications) and GIS data management and analysis.

This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project: - Plan, coordinate and implement research in line with the PRECINCT project research objectives.

• Conduct individual and collaborative research, liaise across the project consortium and analyse research findings.
• Prepare progress reports on research for funding body
• Preparation and completion of key project deliverables and journal/ conference publications
• Engage with the various stakeholders and work package leaders and contributors involved in PRECINCT
• Support if required, the development of proposals for research funding

PD1 Salary: €39,131 - €45,158 per annum Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
